   Urbanisation - Uruguay

Collaboration with “Acta Ingeniería” and “AR Arquitectura y Gestión” in a public tender for an urbanisation project in Ciudad de la Costa, Uruguay. Landscaping design of the urbanisation´s gardens and the adjoining park.

The urban-planning and tender conditions were subject to modifications. We originally proposed the environmental recovery of the area next to the urbanisation. This involved the creation of a wetland with endemic species; an element of great biodiversity and landscaping wealth which would fulfil - as wetlands do - an important role in buffering floods, as well as encourage ecotourism and environmental education.

When the planning conditions changed for this area of adjoining land, we then proposed to carry out the landscaping design on part of the surface, maintaining the design of the green areas of urbanisation’s premises.

The landscape design of the development had to be modern and minimalist, following the style of the new buildings. We included a multitude of perennial plants and grasses arranged according to aesthetic criteria, in which we combined and played with colours, heights and flowering seasons. We also grouped species according to ecological criteria: watering needs, sun exposure and type of soil. We selected endemic species, avoiding alien species where possible and of course, rejecting any with invasive potential.
